Midsummer Magic: Floral Styles to Celebrate the Season

A twist on traditional hairstyles.

A love letter to Midsummer’s quiet magic - where bright nights linger, flower crowns bloom, and hair becomes a symbol of memory, beauty, and belief. Together with our CEO Johan Hellström, we discover a fresh twist on traditional hairstyles, with simple tips to make them last all night long.

MARGARETA BRAID FLOWER CROWN

For our first look, we were inspired by the old Midsummer folklore that says if you place seven different flowers under your pillow, you'll dream of your future love. Maybe it’s just a myth - but on this magical night, many of us choose to believe, if only for a moment. That romantic spirit set the tone for this soft, whimsical style.

We began by working a small amount of Matt Wax through the hair to smooth flyaways and provide light control. Next, we created two simple braids, one on each side, and pinned them across the crown using hair pins. To complete the look, we delicately wove seven different flowers into the braids, forming a natural and romantic flower crown. For added hold, we finished with a mist of Just Right Hairspray to ensure the crown stays perfectly in place all night.

Glossed in Orchids

For our second look, we were inspired by Billie Holiday and the striking elegance of contrast - sleek, sculpted hair paired with the softness of blooming orchids. This style is all about refined simplicity with high-impact detail, perfect for the longest night of the season.

To get this look we started by creating a clean middle part and applying a generous amount of Just Right Hairspray to add shine and control. Since timing is key with this look, we worked quickly - mist the hair evenly to maintain a sleek finish, then gather it into a low ponytail. For that ultra-smooth result, Johan recommends stroking the hair with your hand as you comb it back.

To form the bun, apply another generous layer of hairspray to ensure it stays tight and polished. Twist the hair into a low bun and secure it with bobby pins while the product is still setting for a long-lasting hold.

To finish the look, we prepped the orchids by wrapping their stems in a damp cotton pad and securing it with florist tape. This helps keep the flowers fresh for longer while also providing better grip. Once positioned around the bun, we fixed them in place using hair pins for a secure yet invisible hold.

Statement bun

For this look, we took inspiration from the bold, romantic energy of Carrie Bradshaw—known for turning even the simplest hairstyles into unforgettable statements. Here, the high bun serves as a clean and elegant base, while a single oversized flower transforms the style into a true showstopper.

To recreate the look, begin by brushing the hair back smoothly and gathering it into a high ponytail. Apply a generous amout of Just Right Hairspray to tame flyaways and achieve a polished finish. Flatten the ponytail with your hands before twisting it into a bun, then secure the ends with a hair pin.

The final, and most eye-catching, touch is the flower. We chose a large, richly colored bloom to serve as the centerpiece of the style, placing it at the base of the bun for a dramatic effect. To ensure a secure hold, we wrapped the stem in a damp cotton pad and florist tape before pinning it into place. The result is a striking yet effortless updo that feels both modern and timeless.

Flower Braid

For our last look, we wanted to capture the feeling of walking barefoot through a blooming summer meadow. Inspired by floral garlands and wildflower crowns, this braid is woven with a flower girlang to create an effortless finish.

We began by threading small flowers onto a thin wire, creating a flexible floral strand that acts like a garland. Rather than placing it on top, we used the garland as one of the three core sections of the braid itself, weaving it directly into the hair for a seamless, natural look.

To prep the hair, we applied Texture and Volume Dry Spray to enhance grip and longevity. We then lightly teased the hair underneath to help the braid stay in place. Once the braid was complete, we secured it with a thin hair tie and gently pulled it apart to create a fuller, more relaxed finish.

The result is an effortless, romantic braid where the flowers appear to bloom organically from the hair.

Each look in this series is a celebration of summer beauty—where flowers can elevate even the simplest hairstyle into something unforgettable. We hope these looks inspire you to embrace the season, try something new with florals, and add a special touch to your styling. Happy Midsummer!
